Descanso y Consuelo / Music for Palliative Care

About our music

Our music is rooted in the field of music-thanatology. We use harp and voice and offer our music live at the bedside for patients and families. We describe vigil music as prescriptive and dynamic. It is prescriptive because it is played for the individual to assist the patient's specific condition and situation. It is dynamic because the music changes during the vigil as the patient's condition changes. It is primarily contemplative music, drawn from a variety of sacred, folk and contemporary sources. It seeks to be an expression of beauty and love that transcends diverse affiliations of faith and culture.
